Five Festive Fanfares

Grade 3 | 10 Mins

1. Champions Fanfare

Originally written for the World Student Games, held in Sheffield, England, this up-beat fanfare is traditional in mood despite the occasional 5/8 bar. It can be cut to produce a shortened version if required.

2. Birthday Fanfare

Written for the visit of HRH The Duchess of York to Salford University in Manchester, Birthday Fanfare is noble in character and should be played broadly with a sense of space. It is suitable for any grand occasion and birthdays of all sorts.

3. Festival Fanfare

Composed for the English ship builders VSEL, this fanfare, in the unusual meter of 8/8 finishes with a faster section which can be played on its own when a short flourish is required.

4. Gala Fanfare

Gala Fanfare was written for a Festival of Bands that took place as part of Expo ’88, held in Brisbane, Australia. It is often syncopated in character and has a certain ‘Hollywood’ feel.

5. Victory Fanfare

Commissioned by the Michigan-based professional Brass Band of Battle Creek, this extended fanfare is intended primarily for concert performance but will equally well accompany victory parades or ceremonies.
